I also created a musical based on the music of Meatloaf 10 years ago and had it copy written. I got it in front of Stienmans people who were not interested. Guess they wanted to do their own thing. The music is perfect for the stage. Would love to see it done. adjustpro@aol.com

Hi my name is Brian M Peters and twelve years ago I wrote a stage play (musical) called "Bat Out of Hell the musical" APRA (Australian Performing Rights Ass) had a person contact Jim Stieinman on my behalf for permission to use the title as all thirteen songs of his at that stage I believed had been granted to me for performance use. Mr Stienman was apparantly not too pleased that someone had taken the intitive to embark on this project which should vhave been up and rocking way before now. My works have been through many famous hands who were to hopefully bring Mr S around and see the value in this ( Hugh Jackman's Seed productions LA, John Frost, Harry M Miller, Backrow Productions England and many more. So as far as I am lead to believe Bat out of Hell"The Musical" is old news to me and well you could say I had this project not only thought of but actually ready to perform first!It is impossible when sending sceipts around the world to trust every eye that gets cast upon it, but I hope NON of my works magically turn up in anyone's production if you know what i mean. I would agree that both those books are worthy of the attentions of anyone interested in theatre lighting.

A more recent edition to books on the art is Nick Moran's Performance Lighting Design, 2007. The book covers the usual stage lighting topics well, has plenty of original insight from a professional lighting designer and educator.

Moran's book also extremely well laid out and easy to read from start to finish, or dip into as required. Some of the classic texts on stage lighting are wonderful, but have a tendency towards being wordy, especially from an age when plate printing was expensive.
